Pure good. If you want to know where the food is good and cheap, look for police cars and service trucks. The parking lot is always full of those. This is the kind of family restaurant that used to typify American eating. No frills- you sit at picnic tables, waiting in line to order and throw away your own trash. No soda fountain- it comes in bottles (plastic or glass) or cans. The napkins are paper towels. BUT- if it’s your first time there, you are invited to sample meats to help you decide what you want to order. It’s a lot of food for not much money. The meat is prepared fresh every day. The ranch beans are made with chunks of brisket. The chicken is- in my opinion- the best I have ever had. Served with cole slaw and rice pilaf (also the best I’ve ever had), it is a truly satisfying meal. I don’t like ribs- but I like these ribs. The brisket and tri-tip melt in your mouth. The hot links are good too (so I’ve heard- I don’t do spicy).ALSO- they make their own sauces: Sweetie (KC style- molasses-based), Smoky (just like it sounds), Hogwash (Kentucky style- vinegar based and tangy), Hottlie- (they mean it), and Nuclear-Q (they REALLY mean it). I always leave happy and full.
