Ordered dinner last night, delivered by DoorDash. $50+ for 1 appetizer plate and 2 entrees struck me as a little excessive, but the menu looked good. Unfortunately, the broccoli beef was the only edible item! Grease was rancid, so won tons and egg rolls were out. Pork was off taste wise, and very tough, so that was out. Chicken wing coating was too hard to bite into, but after breaking open the chicken was pink inside. The sweet and sour pork was not only overcooked and dried out, it was too tough to bite into. As a silver lining, the broccoli beef, while over salted, was pretty darn good, and DoorDash was, as always, amazing. Use the delivery service, but for a different restaurant would be my suggestion.
Hot and Sour Soup for the Soul. Simply stated, I was impressed with the hot and sour soup. I’m a huge fan of Henry’s Hunan in San Francisco version, so a stiff comparison to say the least.Striking the right balance of vinegar to spice is one test. A second is the amount of pork to bamboo shoots to egg. Thirdly is the viscosity of the soup, not too thick not too runny. High marks on all accounts to Shanghai for their soup. I certainly will return based upon this simple and excellent version of hot and sour.
Delish!. Good food all the way through their menu.
