Time changes everything…. The best way I can find to describe this place is, the Armenian Genocide on a culinary level. I will start with the service which was horrible. It appears that the place is run by a husband and wife, husband running the kitchen and the wife, front of house. The wife was very rude while taking our orders and I got a very uncomfortable feeling from her. She neglected our table for most of the night even though there were only 3 families in the restaurant. When the food arrived, I was appalled. The salad was nothing more than chopped up iceberg that contained the wedge and a cheap store bought salad dressing. Really, how lazy can you be?? The meat for the kabob tasted funny. I cant explain what the taste was but it was possibly from the meat being frozen or just old. The rice was clearly from a box of Rice A Roni or Uncle Bens and the bread was nothing more than stale toasted hamburger buns. I tried to eat what I could but became ill later in the evening. I think the owners have given up. This place is better off closing down completely. Why continue to tarnish the memory of what was once a very nice place to eat?

ZELFRED’S. Zlfred’s is my favorite Armenian Food place in the world, I am married to a Greek and I love the Greek/Armenian foods. Zlfred’s Chicken Ka Bob is the best I have ever tasted, I love the Pilaf, the taste is superb, in a class of it’s own. You get the Chicken, Pilaf, Salad, Peda Bread, Grape Leaves and Purple Cabbabe, a great meal and great prices. We have been going to Zlfred’s for over 50 years, awesome service, awesome people working there and the food is awesome. We love Zlfred’s and take our friends there. You will not be disappointed with this place.
Pretty good taste. I had the shish kabob on a grilled bun with pilaf. The meat was marinated and seasoned well. It turned out very tender. They served grilled onions and peppers with the sandwich. I asked what kind of food they serve because it is not Greek but is more like Armenian style to me. I just returned from a trip to Greece & Istanbul and was looking for some Greek food. The restaurant had good and fast service. The food was served very hot and was tasty. I think this is a decent place. It is somewhat hard to see from Blackstone Ave because they share the building with a used car lot. Zlfred’s has the north half of the building.
AWESOME. Whenever I’m in Fresno, I go here for some good armenian food….If you ever go to Sacramento, check out my restaurant blog at http://www.sacramento-blog-uncut.blogspot.com
Delicious, chicken kabob is the best.
Delicious, I definitely recommend the shush kabob sandwich, comes with grilled pita bread and superbly marinated meat with grilled onions and peppers. Also rice pilaf. Their bacon cheeseburger and fries are also great. And mmm to the baklava. Overall great prices for the portions and great service
