Great restaurant! The interior is very small and dark, but the food is great. The meat lasagna is delicious. Lomeli’s is great for catering.
This restaurant has been here for a very long time. It’s food is traditional, home made Italian, and the Decor is old school dive New York Italian dinner. That being said, the food is ok. It tastes fine, but lacks the fines that newer Italian restaurants have. I find the spaghetti sauce watery, the meat sauce is better, but not great, the pizza is ok, but again I don’t dig the sauce or the lack of depth of flavor. The price is good, the ambiance is good, like your old friend’s mom’ kitchen. It can get busy, and like stated in other reviews, it’s been a staple in Gardena for so long, that people who grew up eating here love it. But there are many other better offerings out there, so I have to give it a 3. Try it, you may like it. But it’s just ok for me.
BARGAIN LUNCH. This was our second visit and was for Thursday lunch. We were seated quickly, and the order was taken quickly. Ordered Lunch Special [Spaghetti with meat sauce, $6.95 comes with garlic bread, glass of wine] and Veal Parmigiana [comes with spaghetti with meat sauce] $12.95, plus $1.99 for garlic bread, salad with wine and ice cream [an addition to any order]. Small plate of carrots and peppers with dipping sauce comes as an appetizer. Total bill for two w/o tip was $22.66. The food portions are ample [note: the wine that comes with the Lunch Special and with the $1.99 add-on is served in a VERY SMALL glass] and the pasta was cooked properly; the meat sauce was very good and tasted like it did not come out-of-the-can. Both items were served stove hot; a plus for us as it shows the server was attentive to our order. For the price and quality, this rates as a bargain.14 Jan, 2011Good value. Thursday lunch with arrival about 11:50 AM and it was already nearly full. Quick service of appetizer of carrot sticks and dressing for dipping. Ordered Veal Parmigiana and spouse had Lasagna and we both took the $1.99 addition of salad, garlic bread, wine and ice cream. The portions were more than ample; the veal came with a side of spaghetti which had the expected tomato sauce [not especially good, but not bad either, about what I expect from an American Italian restaurant]; the pasta was properly cooked. The food was stove hot and served in a timely manner. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. We will probably come here again if it is convenient, but I wouldn’t make a special trip just to eat here. The total bill was $39.94, not including a tip.
Had dinner there Monday night. Being Italian, was interested in this one off restaurant while in town. Service, food, great. Sauce was sweet, not acid at all. Only downside, spaghetti was over cooked. Quite limpy. Also, no tiramisu or cannoli are offered. Other than that, a great place to dine. You get more than your money’s worth
The best place to take a date to! Great food, great prices.
Great Pizza!. I love their pizza here as well as their egg plant sandwich. I hate the physical restaurant… there are no windows and it feels like some kind of mob hang out.
Great place to get some tasty food for a great price. THe Alfredo sauce had flavor. Pizza was great. Spaghetti and meatballs and spinach ravioli. Yum. Well definetly be back.
