Came here with a fellow yelper, gotta give him points for picking this place I really liked itLocated on that cute little street in la caada or montrose? LolI also noticed they have a happy hour everyday from 3-6pm, which includes food and drinks. That’s great!I forgot the name of the drink I order but it was really good! I took a picture of it so at least that’s there lolDidn’t order food because the kitchen was going to close but the appetizers I saw looked decent. They have a nice selection of beers on tap if your into that, not a beer drinker so i dunno. The venue is pretty chill, a good spot for some drinks on a Friday night. The bartenders were super nice
Gastropub in Montrose. Walking down Honolulu Ave in Montrose I chanced upon Basin 141. The menu and beer list looked interesting. I had the grilled shrimp wrap and a Dark Rye Lager from Angel City Brewery. Both were delicious. On a later visit I had the fish & chips. Also quite good. The rotating draft beer menu is not extensive, but there is always a wide variety of styles from which to choose. There has always been a couple I want to try out the next visit. The staff is friendly, although slow at times. A caution — 21 and older.
A Basin of comfort!. It would be unfair for me to fully evaluate this restaurant seeing as I only tried one menu item and one beverage. The truth is both things I had were very good and as a true foodie of course I will have to go back and try more. To be honest, I would simply go back for the mule I had. Simply delicious and a high recommendation if you love the flavor of apple pie. Its clear that the environment that has been created lends towards comfort. Groups could easily stay a while and not feel the urge to drink, dine and bolt. Its kept clean and they seem to follow the CA Safety codes…although, I still couldn’t figure out where the sour smell was coming from the moment you walked in the door. The only logical explanation that I could come up with was the beer dripping under the bar mats. Simple fix really.Overall a good place to come to for a drink and a tasty bite to eat. I’m sure I’ll be going back and exploring the menu further.
