This place is known for its jazz music. Every night is a different group. It’s old school with carpet on the floors, fabric booths, and colorful Tiffany lamps hanging down at each table. Order the horseradish crusted salmon on a cedar plank with mashed potatoes. Handcrafted cocktails are $10. Jax house cocktails are $9.Add a cup of soup or house salad to any entree for $3.95.They have steaks, chicken, pasta, sandwiches, and Jax Jazz Bbq made with Open Pit Bbq sauce. It’s served with fries or slaw. Each night they serve Daily Specials including featured wine. All entrees come with Chef’s vegetables. The night we dined it was carrots and zucchini. Finish with cheesecake or a berry cobbler with a scoop of ice cream. Street parking or lot behind the restaurant. dineandtravel.wordpress.com
Chicken Fried Steak. The absolute best chicken fried steak ive ever had in my life. Not only that. The taste of their chicken fried steak brought it into my top 5 favorite food. Wow. Place deserves a 5 for this alone.

Horrible! Less than 1 star. Before writing this, my 1st review, I read the others and was shocked to see so many 4 and 5 stars given to this place. While I had good memories of this place as a jazz club from years ago, after my recent visit, I will NEVER return! We were originally going to Damon’s steakhouse down the street, but since we didn’t have reservations, we weren’t able to get in. We all remembered Jax fondly and decided to give it a try. Good news (which turned out to be a bad thing) we were able to get a table right away….should have been our first clue. After waiting a while for our server, he arrived surly and acting as if HE was doing us a favor by waiting on us. I’m not a fan of overly friendly service staff, but this was far from that! He gave us the impression that it was an extreme hardship to provide a menu for each of our party (there were only 4 of us). OK, so maybe he was having a bad day. On to the worst part of our experience…. the food. All of us had different meals and all were indescribably BAD. No flavor and the appearance of these classic dishes was beyond recognizable. My impression was of a classic dish that was conjured up by someone who had just discovered the kitchen and thought they might be able to put something together. Meat was gray and over cooked, as was the pasta, mushy and melt in your mouth – not in a good way! My best description would be a meal that you would get in a convalescent hospital where dietary needs require food to be bland and soft. I’m disappointed that I have to give them any stars, just so I can share this. I wonder… if you get drunk enough, maybe the food and service wouldn’t be so bad?? This diner will not be returning to find out!
Oh yeah. Jax is good old fashioned food cooked right. Salads are fresh with good dressings, the BBQ ribs are to die for. Weekends you can find some good live music, but all week long you can find a good solid meal that is very consistent. If you want a cocktail, you can count on a good, deep pour at a reasonable price. I have never, ever, been disappointed by Jax!
