I was a little hesitant to take my (picky) kids to eat here for a family birthday lunch. However, everyone including the kids LOVED their meals! Beginning with a delicious soup and refreshing salad- everything was wonderful! The schnitzel was good. My husband ordered the royal platter which was a great way to try everything. The kids ordered the chicken and had the crapes for dessert. We will definitely visit again! TRY THIS PLACE!
With out a doubt the worst Cabbage rolls I have ever eaten. Besides very expensive, there was not a single spice in the meat. Nothing ! Not even salt and pepper. It was terrible. I will never go back, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
I was there once and thats it. This is polish restaurant but in Poland this restaurant would not have right to exist . Food is very bed. Famous pierogi ( dumplings) size and shape like a fit number 10. The meat inside without spices and taste very poor. If you are from some country does not mean that you know how to cook your own cuisine 🙁
Elnina’s Review – Quite Disrespectfull. Do not follow the review by Elnina – Polka Polish is a classic restaurant – friendly and good service – been there numerous times and never had a problem – Elnina’s review is a waste of time and space on here.
We Love Polka!. Great memories taking my daughter when she was little to experience Polish cuisine (her great grandpa Buchaks heritage). Her father lived in Eagle Rock at the time, and this was such a warm friendly restaurant to visit. Hope Andrew & Kasia are doing well. So glad Mike has decided to keep the restaurant open. Im planning to share this now with my youngest children, and bring my oldest back to visit. We dont get pierogi too often. When I do make them they dont last too long because everyone loves them. The frozen kind do not even compare. And since it is so time consuming to make, its nice to have a place to go and just sit down, relax, and enjoy! Ive found no other restaurant in Southern California like the Polka. Wonderful! Thank you!
Just like Babcia. I was visiting L.A. and I had heard about this place on DDD. I’m Polish and was in need of some comfort so I drove out to Polka. From the outside I really couldn’t even tell that the place was open, its covered in dark curtains but they were very nice here. They start you off with a warm cabbage soup then a tasty little salad. I ordered the Krlewski A.K.A. The pierogies weren’t as good as I make them but for a restaurant, I think they made a good Polish pierogy. The Gulasz was very delicious and hearty. The Golabki was also not as good as mine but very much like my grandmothers and the sauce was a little bit on the sweet side, which was a nice surprise. All in all, if you’re looking for a down home Polish meal, definitely check this place out
Tasty Food, Take-It-Or-Leave-It Service. I really enjoyed the food here. i’m third-generation central european and a big fan of pirogies, goulash and blintzes. the soup was excellent too – the food was appropriately spicy and polka isn’t afraid of ground pepper, which is good. note to families – i brought my three kids ranging from ages 9 to 3, and the food was just so-so for them – unfamiliar presentation. the menu effectively states that *everyone* at the table must order an entre, but my son declined all the food and the server (thankfully) gave me a pass on the bill – the kids entrees are half size and half priced – approx $8 – not cheap.the service was leisurely and one-size-fits-all. soup was served at our table before any orders were taken, no options were presented. there’s an air of inflexibility in the service – as if to say ‘take it the way we make it, you’ll like it, don’t ask any questions.’ we brought a friend who was visiting from poland – even she found this approach odd. she also felt the food wasn’t reflective of her area of poland, at least.having said all that, i enjoyed my pirogies, happily finished my kids’ barely-touched entrees and enjoyed the cherry/cinnamon/custard desert – once again, served without offering other options, but completely tasty.
