We are from out of town and seeing such good reviews, we decided to find this restaurant. Wow, am I glad we did as the food was excellent and staff was friendly. To find a place like this that makes everything homemade and healthy isn’t very easy. Even the ketchup is homemade. I had the portobello sandwich and my husband had a cheeseburger. The only reason I didn’t give them a 5 star is because we were seated by the kitchen and they had a machine on that we could barely hear each other talk and then dad and 3 little kids were seated next to us, so it made for a very noisy lunch.

I’ve eaten here many times over the years and the food is always good. A wide variety on the menu and the baked goods are always freshly made.

What cay I say but yum. South Pine has many originals on the menu, hearty and light stuff in interesting combinations, veggie and meat, carbs and low carbs….go early or sit at the bar to avoid the lines.

Hooked on south pine. South Pine is right up there with the best breakfast places I have eaten at all over the world. I LOVE the lobster scramble and the staff can make anything work.

  • Outside Inn

Great alternative to Nevada City branch. The Outside Inn sends folks to the Nevada City South Pine Cafe all the time, so it was nice to visit to the Grass Valley restaurant and realize that you can get the same quality food in a different location.

Not very good!. I am new to the Grass Valley area. So I looked up places for breakfast. I found the South Pine Cafe. I went on a Sunday morning, it was not crowded and I was sat in about 5 minutes. Although the staff was friendly, the food….left much to be desired! The bacon tasted odd, the cottage potatoes were cold and had that baked before and re-cooked taste. Nothing I ate tasted fresh and I was served only one piece of toast. Which was the best thing on my plate! I would try again as I do not go by one experience before I totally dismiss a place.

Ordered the lobster scramble; off the hook ! the muffin that came with it was amazing as well, not dry like some muffins can be. will definitely come back.
