Great food & service!
I have liked this place for a long time. Their sushi is fresh …. Although the portions have gotten a bit smaller over the years … It’s still all high quality. The staff is efficient and constantly checking to see if you need anything. Worth the price!
Good Sushi. Been a top Japanese Restaurant in Huntington Beach for over two decades. Sushi is better than a lot of other places. Been going there many years now . Pretty cool decor inside. Always good quality food! But not the cheapest place.
Decent food, but nickled and dimed to death. The Filet, Chicken and Shrimp is of high quality and cooked well (but not nearly the best), but they nickle and dime you to death. They charge extra for fried rice instead of steamed, and no refills on soft drinks. For $20-$25 entrees, fried rice and refills should be included. Unfortunately, I have had much better Hibachi/Teppenyaki elsewhere. Won’t be going back.
Very nice quality fish. Sat at sushi bar and asked sushi chef what was good for sashimi. His suggestions were all lovely: red snapper, yellowtail, salmon and scallop. They were all excellent and fresh.
Best sushi in Huntington Beach
Great value. Matsu has been in HB for as long as I can remember. It is not the best Japanese food around, but it is very good for the very reasonable prices they charge. We were beyond stuffed when our party of 8 ordered a combination boat for SIX. Our waitress warned us that the portions were big and that 6 orders would be more than enough for a party of 8 and she was right. She was also very attentive of our large party. So I don’t understand these complaints of bad service. I’ve never seen it.The teriyaki, sushi and other dishes are never exciting, blow your mind with flavor. They’re just solidly made standards. As good as say a Benihana’s. But with sake, beer, appetizer sushi rolls, the full meal, tax and tip we left there stuffed for $33 a person.
