Good Food for a Good Price. At first glance, Banadir’s Restaurant looks like a run down old restaurant. It is, after all, located in a rather seedy, dirty neighborhood. What lies within the restaurant itself doesn’t at first improve it’s image. The air conditioner is old and does not work all that well. Further, the seat in the customer W/C was broken when I visited. What is seen, however, is not the same as what is tasted. The food was positively delicious. The helpings were quite large, and the food an excellent price. Also, the restaurant was surprisingly clean inside, and the staff friendly, offering us a free banana with our meal, as well as free samples of the tea that they used, and free juice to a member of our party that had forgotten to order it.All in all, this is an excellent place to go to to experience the taste of Somalia.

Somali Food in Inglewood. Although the Los Angeles area has plenty of Ethiopian restaurants, other parts of the Horn of Africa don’t have as prolific a presence. Banadir is the first Somali restaurant I’ve found, and it’s quite tasty. Being an East African restaurant that’s also close to LAX, the taxicabs parked nearby on the street tip off its location. Their rice dishes are fluffy and flavorful, with lots of garlic. If you want a bigger variety, you can order the Federation plate, which has a variety of meats (goat, chicken, beef), rice, and spaghetti. My experience with Somali food is pretty limited, but everything I’ve tried here is good.
