Kitfo Sandwich! (and Dulet in L.A.). Ibex is in a bright green building on Centinela, but it’s easier to spot by the taxis in the parking lot. Menu selection is small, but prices are reasonable, and the food is tasty. Ibex’s best dishes tend to be not listed on the menu. One example is their best dish, `the special kitfo sandwich, which is kitfo mixed with greens and ibe and tucked into French bread From Thursday through Sunday they also serve dulet, another excellent dish that is not on the menu. Ibex uses beef tripe instead of lamb tripe, since the latter is difficult to find fresh in Los Angeles, but the result is still very tasty and not generally offered at other restaurants in the area. Mesfin cooks a terrific lasagna; again, it’s not on the menu but is an occasional special. Their other notable dishes include bambolino, an original creation that is basically an Ethiopian version of steak fajitas– steak, peppers, onions, tomatoes, butter, and spices. The owners, Mesfin and Genet, vowed to make lasagna their Tuesday special and dulet their Friday special once I mention it in my review of their restaurant. So try them on a Tuesday or Friday, and you’ll be pleased.
