The stone bibimbap is the outstanding dish at our favorite Korean restaurant on earth. So much fresh vegetables and spices (with or without egg). The soups (soondobu) also incredible and hearty servings. The hosts are very nice and welcoming in this small quaint restaurant in the heart of Korea town. Complimentary barley tea and banchan make this an outstanding choice for a meal. Arrive early for either lunch or dinner to avoid the crowds.

Home sweet home. This is our local favorite restaurant three blocks from our apartment. It is the best food for your money I can think of in the neighborhood- all the pon chon you can eat (the sweet potatoes and cucumbers are wonderful), delicious hot pots (they all are about the same in taste, I usually get the kim chi pot) and really nicely done meats. The chicken is surprisingly tender. Hot pot and meat is about 15 dollars. For two people, you can do two hot pots and a meat and leave stuffed with leftovers for under 25 dollars. Other local restaurants like Yong Susan have more selection, but this is the home cookin’ favorite. The natural unfinished wood decor adds to the homeyness. Between here, Taylor’s, Pollo ala Brasa, and HMS Bounty, there is no real reason to leave Koreatown.
