Caveat Emptor. We are on a trip to USC for the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, and stayed at the Radisson across the street. McKays Restaurant was next door so we went for a nice dinner, or so we thought. I started with a Single Malt Scotch, and was tempted to order their Filet Mignon, but since I had never been here before I decidedto scale back with their Fish and Chips instead. I am so glad I did, because the food was sub-par to say it nicely. My fish was billed as Mahi, and they serve it with thick cut steak fries and housemade remoulade sauce… problem is, the remoulade was on fire spicy, and I like spicy, but this was so hot it absolutely ruined the flavor of the Mahi. Rather than return it I simply asked for Malt Vinegar. My server reached over to another occupied table and grabbed it from them, so obviously they too felt the remoulade was no good. Problem with Malt Vinegar is you lose the good flavor in the Mahi. It now just tasted like regular white fish, same as any other fish and chips fast food house serves. The thick cut steak fries also had problems, they were far too undercooked, so I really couldn’t eat them. For a $16 meal, it was a waste of money. You can get better fish and chips for $10 at Long John Silvers. My wife ordered the Greek Steak Salad, and right away hated the vinaigrette. I wanted to send it back, but she decided to push through. I noticed it had Cherry Tomatoes, Yellow Pear Tomatoes, Lettuce, Greek Olives, Cucumbers, feta, and maybe 4 small pieces of thinly sliced steak. The Yellow Pear Tomatoes were green, and not ripe, it had a huge Lettuce core on her plate, and some of the Greek Olives had pits in them. No one should be served that garbage, especially for $15. I could see the server was too occupied to care to even ask how we liked the food, so we paid the bill and left. We won’t be back.
