If only they were open for breakfast…. Nothing satisfies like a hot bowl of ramen. Considering Convoy Street may be the foodie meca of all all things Asian in San Diego County, Chopstix is my personal fav. for a bowl of noodles. The broth is outstanding. My only desire would be to be able to have it for breakfast on Sunday morning. I guess a man can dream….
Japanese Comfort Food. We found Chopstix by accident. Intending to try another restaurant in this little strip mall on Convoy, we noticed that Chopstix was absolutely packed, with a line out the door at 2:00pm, and the place we were going to was practically empty. Happily, we changed our plan and tried Chopstix. It was worth the short wait.Chopstix is the Japanese version of diner comfort food. Not fancy, but good food in generous portions at a good price. And if your idea of ramen is 10-for-a-dollar packs at the groccery store, you are in for a treat–lots of variations with tender noodles and flavorful broth. Our favorite dish is the mabo–ground pork in a delicious gingery broth, served over rice, udon, or soba noodles.
Surprisingly good. When a friend suggested we go to Chopstix, I was like, isn’t that some sort of chain? when we walked into the place, I was still dubious, especially when I saw so many non-asians in the place. (ha) But then, to my surprise, their food is good. I am very picky about ramen and even decided to go out of my comfort zone and instead of the usual shoyu ramen I tried a spicy ramen with ground pork, and it was out of this world – (sorry I don’t remember the name of it). The crunchy sushi was good.
Noodles fast, not fast food. Little shop with very close table offers a huge assortment of noodles. Ramen, udon, soba and yakitori (stir-fry) all offered with at least 15 combinations of each. There is also a small sushi roll selection as well as a choice of tempura. Service is friendly and very quick so if it’s your 1st visit you’ll feel pressured to order when there is so much to read. Menu is 6 pages long! Parking can be tight but the table turnover is quick so a space will become available soon.
Good Japanese food ans sushi very fast
FANTASTIC QUICK JAPANESE CUISINE!!. This isn’t rocket science, but it is great food!! And if you are looking for fast and friendly, this is it. Always full, but tables move really fast!Try the Soba Noodles, the Asian Curry* ( ask first, has an acquired taste!) and my favorite… Ton Chi Katsu Don, the Don means meal, the Ton Chi Katsu is ala carte otherwise. This yummy dish is panko breaded pork and chicken cutlets, served with rice, miso soup and a small salad and Japanese steak sauce for dipping your meat in.Start with the Crunchy roll…Oh My very good. And if you order a Japanese beer, you can get a choice of 1 appetizer from the list of 3 or 4 appetizers for .99 cents. Also the tempura is very crunchy and wonderful. This is a must try if your in the Convoy / Kearny area. I eat here at least 2-3 times a month!!!
Closest noodles to Tokyo street food. All noodle dishes are amazing , also try the Crunchy Roll, the dinners that include the chicken and pork breaded with panko.I don’t like the japanese curry but I see a ton of locals ordering it, it’s an acquired taste.Busy and quick service.
