This is not an authentic Chinese dumpling place. We only ordered 3 items to test run it first. Let’s put it this way. My western husband didn’t like the dumplings here at all. Xiaolongbao: The filling was under seasoned. The wrappers were a bit thick. Overall: Tasteless. deep fried dumplings with curry beef: The dumplings came out flat with not much filling in it. They were not crispy either. They’re nobody’s loss if you don’t order them.Jelly fish: It’s a rip off. The dish contained mainly picked shredded vegetables with very little bit of jelly fish. The taste was just sour. Fail
I have had some amazing dumplings in my years of travel to Asia. Dumpling Inn offers some amazing dumpling dishes that are close enough to authentic Chinese cooking that I thought I was in Taiwan again. We tried an assortment of dumplings for lunch and all were amazing. I especially loved the Steamed Xia Long Bao, and the Pan Fried Pork Potstickers. This is a wonderful spot for lunch. Service is quick, prices are reasonable and the food is incredible. Just come early to avoid having to wait for a table. gastroventures.com
Someone said the place is tiny, but it was an old review. They’ve moved into a much larger, neighboring space. The parking lot is still a disaster though. There’s lots of seating for big groups, like families, and also a nicely looking bar. The service was fairly quick but the communication is lacking. Seems like waiters just walk around and help everyone so we had a lot of people ask the same questions over and over. But the food was fine. Greasy, but okay. Good sized to share plates to get to try multiple dishes.Edit- went again for happy hour at the bar. Food was great and service was friendly. Great prices.
THE RESTAURANT IS TINY. This place is tiny. The whole restaurant can probably only hold 20 people. We arrived on a Saturday evening around 7:30. We waited outside for at least 30 minutes. We still had to share a table with another couple. We ordered Szechuan Beef Shank Home Made Noodle Soup, Beef & Scallion Stir-fried and Xia Long Pao (Steamed Small Pork Buns). There are all very good. The price is rather high but I am from Texas. Their kitchen shut down at 8:30 sharp. The parking is kind of difficult. Every spot is reserved by other business in the center.
Namesake Dumplings Are Superb. This is a small mom & pop, strip-mall-located, hole in the wall with relatively few tables but always with a line of customers waiting to get in. The wait is worth it. Don’t go without trying their dumplings. Perfection!

The Best in San Diego. My family (dad, brothers, aunts and uncles) has been going there for over 30 years. Always consistent, phenomenal Chinese Food. Love the Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings) and the Fish Dumplings (even my 3 children under 6 eat the Fish Dumplings). Definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant especially when you want something hearty and flavorful. They used to be cheap but it is still well priced.
