Good soul food. Today 9/14/2014 Sunday after church my self and 93 year old mother stop at rand r restaurant to have a bit of soul food ,it was delicious the oxtails and greens, mash potatoes corn bread ,cabbage but most of all it was the service ,my mother is blind so i left her in the car and pick up a menu and back to the car i call in a to go order and went in to pay went back to the car and waited and to my surprise the host bring my food to the car and off we went what a wonderful gesture that for that type of restaurant may god bless r and r i will be back regular and tell every one not about the food but their service thank you r and r the Phillips family
Creole,Cajun, Soul Food. R & R Soul Food has down home cooking and it’s great. I ordered the Short Ribs which were nice and tender and the Mac & Cheese,Green Beans,Potato Salad and Chitterlings for sides. Each side order was fresh , seasoned carefully and made to order. The only problem was the parking. There’s street parking and that was filled up so I parked at the Gas Station. That was the only problem but after eating their food I forgot all about it. The service was outstanding and the prices are reasonable.Try it! letseatwithalicia.com
And the search continues…. Often I get cravings for soul food. Since Jordan’s Cafe in Watts closed I have been disappointed at every soul food place I try. R & R Soul Food is not good. First of all, I ordered pork chops and they were small. They should put a couple spoonfuls of lard in their greens and who has ever seen (soulfood) mac n cheese WHITE! Thats not soulfood that borderline gourmet. Soul food is suppose to be filling and yet I was still hungry. Sure they give you free ice tea and a piece of cake (stale) but it is not worth the money!!
I so wanted something good went to rr got the meatloaf with rice and gravy cabbage yams iwas in heaven
Good Southern Soul. This week was the first time I visited R & R and I was very pleased with the food. They give you more than enough for you money and that is something you just don’t find too often. I have heard many people sing it’s praises and I finally got the chance to see what the fuss was about and let me tell you it was well worth the wait.
Horrible. If you are from the south do not go here. We did not know that macaroni and cheese could be messed up. The greens were horrible, the yams were orange and the tea was NASTY. Cornbread was no right. The chicken was dry and the gravy was from a box. The oxtails were seasons good but they were not tender enough. What was good was the blackeyed peas my friend had and the whole kernal corn–which you can’t mess up.
Down home cooking at it’s best, so much food given. So good it’ll make you slap you’er mama!!
