Had an early dinner at this usually crowded spot. Their pizza joint next door is supposedly the best in town so we figured their restaurant might live up to their reputation and we think it did. We started with their French fries with aoili and chili sauces. The fries were generous, crisp and not oily at all. The spring salad was refreshing and once again surprisingly big. They have a daily special risotto and tonight’s featured root vegetables. Not my favorite combination but nicely done. We closed it out with a grilled lamb over a mint salsa and roasted potatoe fingerlings. A lamb sausage accompanied it also. It was good but I prefer a richer red wine sauce instead. They seek to use local and organic ingredients which I applaud them for and the service was friendly and prompt. Even when the restaurant became jam packed they didn’t pressure us to give up our prime booth that we nestled in for over two hours. I had a glass of red wine which was very good and came recommended by the server. The noise level was acceptable considering the crowd and the dark ambience fit it’s classy yet hip vibe. They even allowed us to order the famous soft serve chocolate ice cream from next door which was nice of them. I’ll be back next time I am in town as I hear it’s the best dinner around for the price.
