Old School Cool. I had my first encounter with this restaurant last Saturday. Did the lunch buffet. Pickings were small, not lush. No shrimp tempura, but other tempura delights. Only two kinds of sushi. Teriyaki, noodles, rice salad were staples. Not sure if there was miso soup. A couple of smallish deserts and soft serve ice cream and fruit. Food was good. Lunch buffet was 8.50, and I thought it a good deal for what you got. Place is rather large and has a 1964 Tokyo feel to it. Staff is friendy. Would like to see more buffet options. Will be going back again.

Low key & cheap drinks!. I really like this place….from my first encounter during my freshman year at ucla to my recent visit last month; oiwake’s holds a dear spot in my heart for the cheap eats, booze and ghetto karaoke.do not expect high end food but staple eats such as karaage, udon, teriyaki, etc and you will be fine.as mentioned by other folks below, go here on a fri or at night with your buddies, grab a table, eat, booze, chat and sing your heart away.bottomline, oiwake’s is a fun and unpretentious place to hang with friends.
