  A place for celebrations and special occasions, an old farm house that has been lovingly restored and beautifully decorated. The bar centers on a grand piano with good music; the dining room has inviting burgundy walls and a roaring fireplace that were welcome on a wet, cold winter evening. Service was excellent. Our young waiter, Jeremiah, was polished and expert. The wine list was decidedly California – I only counted 1 wine from Spain and Chile and 2 from Italy – and Lodicentric. Still there were lots of great choices by glass or bottle. The food was uniformly creative, beautifully presented, and delicious. The Taste of Lodi gave us an opportunity to try the too-much-ignored other local crop, olives and olive oil. The seafood, whether tuna or scallops, was perfectly prepared: great sear and still soft, translucent and rare on the inside. Bourbon walnut pie was a perfect ending. The only thing that didn’t work for me was the leeks which suffered in presentation and mouth feel. That and a couple of tiny stumbles: the runner filled my partner’s water 3 times without filling mine because it was too far a reach, and there were a few bits of sand in the scallops, were the only things that kept this from a perfect experience. Not inexpensive, but well worth it, especially considering the generous portions.
