Outstanding. When we came to Lompoc nobody could recommend a good restaurant. One of the wineries recommended scratch kitchen. We tried it loved it ate lunch and dinner the same day. Recommend the fried chicken and the Cuban sandwich. The desserts are outstanding.
My New Favorite Restaurant. Actually, I didn’t have a favorite until now, because I haven’t been impressed with any place in town. But the Scratch Kitchen is worthy of notice, and a plan to get yourself there. The dishes we tried (including spinach soup…so spectacular I had to ask what was in it, with wild hope that I might be able to recreate it at home…, a Caprese salad in warm, house made pita bread, and the quiche of the day) were all creative and really, really good. We made room for dessert, which included Crme Brulee and cheesecake with blueberries. While the cheesecake was good (and the butter/graham cracker crust spectacular), it was the Crme Brulee that stole the show: creamy with a hint of lemon, and a crunchy caramelized crust (which could have been a tad thicker, but still was great). The accompanying salad was very fresh and good, the coffee very good, and my companion was impressed with the local wine she tried. The dcor is minimal but pleasant, though it’s hard edges could make for some noisy times when the restaurant if full. The water is served from a carafe with lemon slices and sprigs of mint: beautiful and tasty. The slight threat of the noise factor is far outweighed by the quality of food at the Scratch Kitchen, and I feel that Lompoc is very fortunate to have this new place. I know that I’ll be back.
