Beware of Awful Service!. Shannon and I decided to use our Living Social deal for a cheap dinner at El Burrito Grill this evening, despite the slow service we received the last time we were there(I let it go without a ding on yelp, because everyone has a bad day). The restaurant had a few parties inside and one other table on the patio besides us. A server promptly brought chips and salsa to us and our drink order was taken and delivered. We then waited for our order to be taken. We drained the ice teas and ate the chips and salsa, but still no one approached. It took at least fifteen minutes till someone came to take our order, she was apologetic. I offered her my phone with the living Social Deal on the screen before we ordered. She said she would take it after the meal. We ordered our food and I asked for utensils, since there were none on the table. I never got them. When my taco was delivered I asked the food expediter for utensils, they were never brought. My enchilada and rice were delivered to the table, but I still didn’t have a fork. During this whole debacle the owner/manager was at the other patio table dealing with a catering order. I looked at him, he made a one minute signal. After my food sat on the table for ten minutes(getting cold) I walked inside the restaurant. When I approached the counter the owner/manager was just getting us utensils, he refused to give them to me. He insisted on carrying them to our table. What pisses me off about this is that he obviously knew we had no utensils and found it acceptable to let us remain without them while our food chilled. After that he approached our table two more times in fifteen minutes to ask about the meal, a little too late. We finished our meal and sat at least another twenty minutes waiting for someone to bring a box or a bill. I finally had to walk inside the restaurant for a second time. When I went to get the bill I was told we couldn’t use the Living Social on tuesdays. That is perfectly acceptable, my problem is that why couldn’t the server have told me this at the beginning of our meal hen I told her we were using one. I inquired about this with the owner/manager. He replied with a dickish attitude and a raised voice that it is in the fine print. I lost it, I told him that it is ridiculous that the service was so slow and neglectful and he raised his voice again to me and with condescension told me he came to our table three times, Oh my god he came to our table three whole times. That must have been hard for him, isn’t that his damn job! I guess that I should be happy that in the hour plus that we were there he chose to approach us three times, all in a span of twenty minutes. These three visits were while we were eating and had refilled drinks, but he obviously avoided our table when we actually needed assistance and were attempting to make eye contact, fidgeting and looking for someone to assist us. What an awesome business owner/manager. I sure do appreciate being bitched at for speaking up against bad service and rudeness. He did offer to take care of our bill, I refused because at this point I didn’t want to be placated by such an, excuse me, a@#$hole! I am calling Living Social to get my money back tomorrow. Be warned if you want awful service and an owner/manager who makes the soup Nazi look pleasing feel free to visit this establishment, I for one will not!
Food is great! I have tried something new everytime and never been disappointed. Prices are amazingly low for the amount of foo you get. People are friendly. All around great experience everytime!
El Burrito Grill is fantastic!. This place is amazing! Tucked away in a corner strip mall on Bellflower and Carson, the El Burrito is a great find. This is a family owned and operated restaurant, where you feel like part of the family when you walk in the door. The food is fresh, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. There is an extensive menu, and if you don’t find exactly what you want on the menu, they will cook it for you! My husband always stops there on his way out of town to get his burritos for his fishing trips, car shows, hunting trips, etc.. I have never taken the time to write a review of restaurant before, but love this place so much, I just had to put my two cents in on this one!!! Thanks El Burrito Grill for bringing your restaurant to Long Beach/Lakewood!!
