Good, But Not Great. Rascal’s is a clean, no-frills, consistently good teriyaki joint that is extremely popular with the Cal State Long Beach crowd due to it’s proximity to the campus, cheap prices, and large portions.Their most popular dishes are the chicken teriyaki, chinese chicken salad, and chicken curry. Personally, I think their teriyaki sauce is a bit too thick and sweet, but it certainly doesn’t lack flavor. Similarly, their chinese chicken salad dressing is very sweet and very tangy (tart to the point that it gives some people pucker-face) – something I think overpowers the flavor of the dish. Their curry is the thick, mild, brown Japanese curry (not to be confused with the red, yellow, and green Thai curries) that features chicken or beef, with potatoes, carrots, and celery. While I generally prefer the spicier Thai curries, Rascal’s curry is still very good. Portions for most entrees are very large and you’d have to have a fairly good appetite to polish off an entire order all by your lonesome. Prices are very affordable at just over $6 per entre.The service is fast-food style: Order at the counter, pickup your food, find a seat, and enjoy. Seating is generally plentiful, but the restaurant does get busy during the weekday lunch rush. One last thing to keep in mind, Rascal’s is closed on Sundays.
Get the Teri Delux! The Chinese chicken salad is great! The portions are huge, so bring an appetite.

I thought that going in at noon it would be very busy location. The service was very quick I had my meal within 1 minute after I paid, that would be why it didn’t seem busy their just able to rotate customers quick. Cashier was very nice and offered suggestions and they were very clean through out. My meal cost $10.06 I got the Teriyaki Chicken Delux plate comes with teriyaki chicken and rice with salad with med soda. WOW talk about huge portions I could only eat 1/2 it was so large, you could easily share this with another. The char broiled chicken thigh with brown sugar flavor teriyaki sauce was very good I’d say you get about 8oz of chicken and 12oz of rice. The salad was letuce, cucumber, green onion, toasted almonds, shredded chicken breast, deep fried puffy noodle and seasame Asian dressing. Would I go back again? If I lived or worked in the area forsure, you get great value for the price,

EAT HERE!!. If u can… try everything on their menu… OMG i have to go there now! talkin about this is driving me crazy! haha =)
