We love the Dim Sum!
Mango Pudding. You’re good to me because of your MANGO PUDDING. that is all.
Best Overall Dim Sum in Rowland Heights. Although there is a sizeable Chinese community in the Rowland Heights area, the choices for dim sum can be lacking (especially after the closure of the venerable Sam Woo there). I’ve tried just about all of them in the area (several times) and Hong Kong Palace is consistenty the best for dim sum. Unlike some of the nearby dim sum restaurants, HKP still maintains cart service and a attentive staff of Cantonese-speaking employees who remind you that dim sum is still best when enjoyed as a lazy late morning experience. Maybe it’s just me, but cart service makes dim sum just that much better, unlike the soulessness of hurriedly ordering off of a ‘checklist’ type menu, which you may find at some other, nearby dim sum locations. The dim sum selection was very good (not the most extensive I’ve seen), fresh and well priced. Ha gow, siu mai, char sui bows, dann tat, lo bok go, etc. are all very solid. Some of the more exotic dim sum you can find at other places may be missing though and I don’t recall ever seeing very much in the way of Cantonese BBQ like char siu, siu yuk or siu aap (BBQ pork, crispy skin roast pork or roast duck). It was also nice that they asked politely which tea we wanted (1/2-Po Li, 1/2-chrysanthamum flower for us), rather than plunking a generic pot of tea in front of us.Sure, there are better places in the San Gabriel Valley and Downtown, but for Rowland Heights, I’d say HKP is consistently the best dim sum in that area.
