I like the ambiance and the vibe of Riptide. I’ve been a customer for many years. They play music and have tv screens, along with a special motorcycle that was constructed for the restaurant by Orange Coast Choppers on display prominently. They also have a wall of water. Don’t come here looking for traditional rolls but if you are looking for a fun atmosphere to grab a bite with some friends or the fam, this is your spot. They also do Teppanyaki here but I come for their unique sushi rolls that you can’t find anywhere else. I recommend their most popular rolls which are…Tornado Roll – Crab, avocado, spicy tuna with soy paper. Crispy potato, eel sauce and Cruzin’ sauce on top.Sexy Mutha Roll: Shrimp tempura, avocado, and radish sprouts with soy paper wrap.Spicy tuna, masago, green onion, sesame seeds, spicy mayo, and eel sauce on top.
If you’re a Real Housewife of Orange County, then they will trip all over themselves to accomodate you… However, if you’re a normal person, be prepared to treated like they are doing you a favour by serving you. The food is over-priced and tasteless… Not surprising since I suspect their sushi is frozen then thawed for service. Save your money and find another place that won’t treat you like the Ferris Bueller waiter.
~CD~. Cool place, kind of like a sushi bar mixed with a banzai type restaurant. Music is terrible pop/rap music that is played loudly throughout the restaurant, but its tolerable. The food was good, but a little overpriced. Sushi rolls start at $10 and then you have the specialty rolls that are pretty expensive. They have a dinner combo with sushi and an entree, but its $25. The one thing i would go back for is the all you can eat sushi on wednesdays or thursdays. that sounds like a deal
Love the steak. I don’t know about the sushi because I only go here for the teppan grill. The shrimp and steak are the best I have had at any place like this. The prices are pretty high so we only go here on special occasions.
My family and friends, on separate occasions, have gotten sick from this restuarant. I do not recommend it!!!
Looking for good sushi with good service? Then this is not really the place to go. Taste like buffet sushi. I didn’t hate it but won’t go again.
I’m a big fan of the crab stuffed mushrooms! Other than that, I can take it or leave it.
