I and my family have been customers at La Costena for many, many years. We use to go to the old location several times a month and the burritos were always the best around. Since La Costena has moved to their new location, the quality of their burritos seems to just keep going downhill. After giving them 3 more chances, I am sorry to say my family and I will not be returning anytime soon. I understand having to raise prices to help pay for the move and improvements in the new location. Inside is clean and not a bad place to eat. However, if you are going to charge me .99 for cheese and .59 for lettuce (which lettuce and onions use to be free of charge at the old location) then you better put them in the burrito. My burrito had just a small clump of cheese in the middle and 5 STRANDS of lettuce! Not okay in my book. In addition, I had ordered a regular carnitas burrito. The carnitas were so dry and hard, not even edible! Yes it is suppose to be crispy and harder on the outside and tender on the inside. This was not tender, just dried up old hard pork! I threw half of it away. My daughter had ordered and we paid for cotija cheese on her burrito and there was absolutely none put into her burrito at all. To give them credit, my husband had the fajita burrito and his was okay. Had we not gotten our burritos to go and live on the other side of town, I would have taken them back and complained. My previous two visits were not much better and I decided to give them one more chance, as they seemed to have some newer staff. I am sorry La Costena, but after 20 years of frequenting your establishment, I am afraid we won’t be back. We are taking our business to a taqueria on Old Middlefield. No, we cannot get custom burritos there. At least we can consistently get a delicious burrito and other food items at this restaurant for a decent price and good value for our money.

Garlic Steak Burrito. The lesser known burrito place? Head to the back of the market and order your custom burrito with your favorite ingredients. I personally like the garlic steak burrito. My friends and I used to order the double super burrito back in our high school days when they would overlap two large flour tortillas and make a ridiculously large burrito.
