It is nearly a month since I went there with family, relatives and kids. The quality of the food was top notch. Their Pineapple fried rice served in a pineapple shell with fried cashews was the best. We had their Fried tofu and Roti Canai. They were really good. Their yellow curry was also very good. The Phad thai was good but not great. Folks had the eggplant dish as well and they said it was good. I am not a big fan of eggplant. We had the banana fry with ice-cream for dessert and it was really nice. I have taken a 0.5 star for their service. They gave us Iced coffee and it hardly had any milk/half and half. When I asked them to add a bit more, they never did.
`Legendary Thai food`There are moments in a foodie’s life when he/she rethinks about which cuisine they best-love. I, always had an insatiable craving for Arabic food which was understandable since I grew up in Abu Dhabi, UAE. But all that changed after my trip to Thailand; their cuisine- strong aromatic components, the level of spice, the subtle flavors of the various elements that constitute an original Thai recipe- was mind blowing! Thai food slowly inched towards `numero uno` on the list of my favorite cuisines..The food experience at Shana Thai, pretty much vanquished any sort of doubt in my mind- that Thai food was my new favorite.Located close to Herwin Abhilash Kandoth office; we decided to drop in for lunch. The restaurant had ample parking space; the interior decor was simple, serene and was complimented by a light tune playing in the backdrop. I’ll pen down what we ordered off the menu, during our numerous visits to Shana Thai.Definitely try the Thai Ice Tea if your not planning to have mocktails or cocktails.. You will love it..Cocktails,Bangkok SunriseLychee MartiniGuava CosmoStarters,Chicken Satay Salad with peanut saucePapaya SaladMain CourseSpicy eggplantGreen Curry (Chicken)Spicy String Bean- it would be silly for me to use anything less than a superlative word to describe it.Finally an epic dessert-Sticky rice pudding with Mango Slices(unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of) – by far the best dessert in my life. What an amazing food experience- to enjoy a cuisine in the country of its origin is one thing but an identical experience in another, is priceless.. This visit was to be the first of four other instances we checked-in to Shana Thai in the space of 10 days.. Now that speaks for itself, You Gotta Eat Here! gulpnmunch.com
Pineapple Rice and Chili Steak were INCREDIBLE!!!! Such great service and a relaxed atmosphere. Not a place to be missed if you’re in the valley
Food was just ok. Not bad thai but certainly not the high scores others are giving it. I wouldn’t go back there in a hurry. The Tom Yum soup was pretty good but the satay chicken salad was not good- very thick peanut sauce over some not so fresh vegetables.
Excellent experience and food. I’m not sure how a restaurant that has a 91% like rating has negative reviews. I just had dinner here with my wife and her father, and all of us loved this place. Really delicious food, great presentation, the service was good and actually quite fast, and I didn’t think the prices were particularly high for the quality of food we received. I’ve eaten at hundreds of Thai restaurants (including in Thailand) and the food here ranks up with the best of them. About the only complaint we had was that the lighting was a bit low, so it was hard to read the menu (some people at another table even used their smartphones as flashlights to read the menu), but that is a minor nit. Would definitely go back here (in fact we plan to!)
Check order accuracy on takeout. Similar experience to others: food was good but service less than friendly. I got carry out and they botched the order – when I called they were only willing to refund me for the wrong items if I brought them back to the restaurant which was not especially close. I would recommend trying online ordering to avoid these problems as the owners/employees are unforgiving in making up for what was essentially their mistake.
I forgot to add to the end of my review that one person in our party of 3 was actually counting how many other people were getting soup near our table AFTER we got our mains without the soup starter. 8 people. Excuses are one thing, being lied to is something special.26 Sep, 2013Good food, Bad service. My…. Good food, Bad service. My friends and I (3 of us) went there for lunch. Seated and orders taken reasonably quickly. We got our waters (no ice, but nobody had ice) and appetizer and people watched while we waited for our main. We saw other groups getting some amazing looking dishes, very nice presentation on a lot of their food. Then they brought out one of our dishes. Nothing fancy about it but it was just a lunch special. 5 minutes later they brought out the second of three dishes, and then another 5 minutes went by before we all had food in front of us. We never got our soups that come with the meal (served with rice, soup of the day, and your choice of the following meats: pork, beef, prawns, seafood mix) and we never got our cucumber salad. Everything tasted good but the first dish brought out had room temp scallops. When we got our check we asked for a menu to confirm we were supposed to get soup and we were so we asked if they could give us a discount to make up the difference. Here’s where it went bad. The bartender came to explain to us that because the soup is free, he can’t give us a discount for not serving it. He said they only had enough for 2 bowls, not 3, so they didn’t give it to us. He refused to give a discount saying it happens all the time and trust him there’s nothing that HE could do. We told him that the menu states it’s part of the meal, not a free extra while supplies last and if he couldn’t do anything then perhaps he could find the manager to help. He said there was no manager. We asked for the owner, he said he wasn’t there. He said he couldn’t do a discount, the system won’t allow it, he could only give free drinks. We were ready to leave so we asked for him to remove the price of the appetizer instead. He tried to argue more but eventually walked away and made some changes. When he came back he gave us our new bill and said that HE had to pay for the app he took off our bill. I suggested that perhaps they could, in the future, let their patrons know when the soup runs out and offer something as a replacement, or even change the menu but he just had more excuses. I was tired, said alright as I gave up trying to coach on customer service standards, and we left. I never even mentioned to him that they forgot our cucumber salad. What would be the point? The food was good but the service left a bad taste in my mouth. I won’t be going back.
