Interesting concept for lunch at Napa Valley. V. Sattui offers picnic style from bbq pork ribs to burger to salad to pizza to sandwich to desserts all are there. Just stay in line and order to your hearts contents but beware the size is generous.
Best deli cusine in California. I have loved this place since I was introduced to it in 1989. My family, friends and love have made the memories here awesome. The wine is great, I prefer the dry reisling, the grounds are breathtaking and the food in the deli is some of the best you will experience. On our last trip to Northern Califonia which included fine dining in Calistoga, San Francisco, Capitola and Sacramento, on the plane ride home we both agreed that the best food we ate was at V. Sattui. The parking can be problematic as the limos and buses clog up the place. On weekends they expand the parking area to behind the main building and flag men keep the traffic flowing. Picnic tables can be hard to get on a sunny day. I always plan to go on a week day during mid afternoon. Enjoy the wine tasting if you are into it, but you must try a few items from the deli. I cannot wait until my next visit.
Great Lunch…Mediocre wine tasting. This place is a great to have lunch. Grab a number and take a look at all of the yummy salads and sandwiches. You can bring a blanket to sit on the grass and have a great picnic. The wine tasting is not the best, however. Not saying their wine tastes bad, but I’m there for the experience. Entice me…intrigue me…entertain me. If I ask questions, answer and then some more. I’m here for the experience and if I like the wine I’ll buy it. If I don’t like the experience I won’t buy the wine. There are tons of wineries down the street. That’s my 2 cents. :). Enjoy lunch.
Wonderful Place. I LOVE V. Sattui. This is such a wonderful place to include as part of your sunday drive down HWY 29. You can either sit inside or enjoy the sun and beautiful Napa Valley air while dining and having some wine outside. What I like about their wine is, while it’s readily available at the winery, it’s not so easy to find anywhere else. Any time I visit Napa, I make it a point to pick up a bottle or five to add to my collection.
Beautiful Scenery. After tasting wine and exploring the wine cellars, the best way to end the visit was with a brick oven pizza out in the plush grass under a shady tree. Great and relaxing!
Beautiful location. I fell in love with V. Sattui. The wine is superb. I often order it online and have it shipped to Wisconsin. Love the Gamay Rouge. Visited V. Sattui on my honeymoon. A feel of Italy and beautiful gardens. Was a great spot to picnic with my new husband, enjoying cheese, bread and wine from the deli. I look forward to the day when we can go back and relive the moment. Of the hundreds of vineyards to visit in Napa Valley, this is the one!
SKIP THE WINE AND GET LUNCH. I have been a big fan of this winery for a very long time. the picnic grounds are great for family outings and wine tastings. they have one of the best gift shops in the area for sure with many free samples. right as you walk in you are aroused with a many number of sights and smells. they have many nice gourmet sauces, oils, fresh breads, cheeses, olives, spreads and a very tempting deli. the fresh salads and sandwiches are excellent. they have one of my favorite chicken salads that is full of so much texture and flavor. the panini is by far the way to go if you want a great sandwich. the tri tip is a local favorite but the black forest ham and gruyere panini is a classic. the bread is very fresh and crispy and everything on the inside just seems to melt so nicely. sure the wine tasting is great as well but i tend to find myself LOVING the deli and you gotta try that smoked turkey leg for sure. i went on a weekday and there was no crowd at all. it was fantastic! everyone was at work and the kids were at school so if you can avoid the weekends.
