LOVE this place. My husband and I came to Hog Island for some seafood and drinks at happy hour. We sat on their lovely deck and had 3 dozen oysters, some wine and beer, and Po Boy sandwiches. Wow…the oysters are delicious. Very cute place with a laid back atmosphere. It was a nice break from the pretentious Napa restaurants and the food was just as good…maybe even better.

Well i don’t know what to expect from oysters. My first time. As far as this restaurant goes: poor seating. Great staff. Gave me the option to just get a plate and eat it on any flat place i found. Yeahhhh. I got the assortment of all 6 oysters they have plus the promo truffel oyster. Loved them all. Totally LOVED seeing that the oysters were prepped on front and therefore were fresh

RAW Oyster Bar at the Ferry Building. Great location with in the Ferry building, the lineup started from the outside, the line looked super long but we were actually seated quite quickly, in ~10 minutes. There’s patio seating and inside seating. I sat at the bar where I could see the Shuckers do their work. They were amazingly fast at their jobs. It was a full house when were seating, we ordered a dozen oysters chefs choice, spicy popcorn, anchovies, the steamer with added pasta, and seafood chowder. For drinks we tried the ginger beer, it comes with the original bottle as well as a glass with lime and ice in it, mixed together to give you the perfect combination of fizzy and gingerness. The food came in about ~10 mins, followed ~10 minutes later with our mains. The food was very good, the oysters were all west coast, my favourite ones were from Washington area. The seafood chowder was super creamy but very delicious, and boy they did not skimp out on the clams. They give you a full bowl of clams, I didn’t even end up eating all my clams. The atmosphere is amazing plus a good set of staff to go along with it, and you can’t complain about the view. I would recommend it, and would visit again!

A sumptuous feast. The Hog Island Oyster was in the Oxbow Public Market which was a gorgeous array of gourmet cheeses, coffee, organic produce and other tasty morsels.I had the mixed oyster plate to start, wondering what the difference was for all the kinds of fresh oysters listed. The waiter was fantastic, explaining all the oyster offerings on the menu. When it was presented you could definitely appreciate the variations of oysters from different areas. My second course was the quintessential seafood chowder served with crusty bread and a pear, rocket, walnut and blue cheese salad. Both were delicious and nicely accompanied by a local sauv blanc. It was very busy, which is no wonder considering the calibre of the food, and we only we able to get a seat at a communal table with another party, so it wasn’t the leisurely lunch I had hoped for, but I will definitely return the next time I am in the States.
