  Wow. Old school deli with a lot of flavor. Limited seating inside so we had to get ours to go. We were originally hesitant, but came based on the reviews. We thought: how good can a deli sandwich really be? Um, apparently very good…our sandwiches were awesome and gigantic. I just wished we lived closer so we could try some of the specialities, which looked really good.

  My family and I just ate here while on vacation through norcal. The sandwiches are out of this world in both flavor and size. A half sandwich has more meat and toppings than a full sub at subway. That’s not even the best part of the restaurant either. The owners are fun, loving, and generous. They legitimately wanted to hear about where we were from, what we were doing, and where we were visiting next. Bennett, the owner, even gave us a free slice of their chocolate and peanut butter cake! He also showed us some things to do in the city while we are here. This wasn’t exclusive to us either: he spoke to every customer that way. The locals he would catch up with while in line and the new customers, like us, he just wanted to get to know them.After getting our bellies full with the best sandwiches you can buy, he left us with a hug and goodbye. This is how all restaurants should be.

  Best sandwich in Monterey. At Compagnos Market & Deli, they offer one of the best sandwiches ever. The toppings in each sandwich is ordered a specific way to best maximize the flavor of the sandwich. They do not skimp on the portions as well. As Americans we love sandwiches and burgers, but most importantly we love excellence and success. Hands down Compagnos delivers one of the best sandwiches in the country. Compagno’s extra: Their chocolate cake is extremely rich, soft, moist and delicious.
