Great food and I recommend! I had the clam chowder (outstanding!) and the corned beef with cabbage. The taste was good and authentic! The beef was excellent, the vegetables were a little boring just like in England. The main dish came literally within a minute after the waitress cleared the chowder dish. So I guess it was sitting under a hot lamp for a while.
Best of Monterey pubs. As a 14 year resident of Monterey I’ve had a chance to sample all its pubs. For food, drink, service, and decor this is the best one. I give it an 8 of 10 rating; none of the others comes even close to that. recommend
In the name of the crown!. If you’re feeling that ancient ache for a British naval power influenced decor and some solid pub fare fit to fly the royal flag for, this is your new favorite haunt! The pastie I ordered was great, and the clam chowder was a solid, herby good bowl of soup. The Englishman within me was mighty happy, and the traitorous yankee within me felt a trifle guilty about the whole 18th century revolution thing, aside from the American beers on tap, which returned my American pride and seated me squarely and happily between Cornwall and California!
Loved it! Great atmosphere, lots of people, but still great service. Large portions, so you might want to split a meal. Bangers & Mash were the best I’ve ever had!

I have a strange hobby. Ever since I married a British gal, I go to British restaurants all over the country. This place is one of the absolute best … and it has THE absolute best Sticky Toffee Pudding you’ll find anywhere. So, save room for dessert: I think you’ll be amazed. The day we visited was particularly jovial: we were there at the very moment that San Francisco won the world series so the place was a bit more wild and excited than normal. Still, it was a great visit I and just cannot wait until travels take us near here again.
