Great spot on a foggy night. Stopped in for happy hour at 6:00. This is a warm, inviting atmosphere with seriously good happy hour food, not just fried junk like you get at so many happy hour spots. The happy hour ran from 5-7, so there was plenty of time to nosh on the half priced yummies and the inexpensive house wine or sangria before moving on to dinner. We had a serrano ham and manchego that was out of this world for flavor. Some dishes, like the seafood paella, can be over salted, so you have to do a little investigation before ordering. On cold nights the fireplace is going and you can always sit outside on the charming terrace. Excellent value, great atmosphere but just a few variable dishes. Definitely worth going back though.
Would not recommend this place at all especially for the price! There are so many other places to go that are far superior. Food was bland. Only one dish was OK (brussel sprouts). Service was alright though awkward. Our youngish server tried really hard. Even attempted (and failed) a little flair with the wine key. Save yourself and go to one of the many good spots in Monterey. Montrio’s is right down the street!
Great pulpa (octopus). Very tender with a nice garlic background. Service and decore were excellent.
Great dining experience. Read some reviews saying the service was poor, but our waitress was very attentive. All the dishes were good, especially the orange and manchego salad and the steamed mussels entree. As a plus, most of the pintxos and tapas were half price during happy hour as well as a couple of entrees. Definitely will return next time we’re in Monterey.
If the weather is nice…sit outside. Don’t miss the dates wrapped in bacon – live a little! It’s fun to get there for happy hour! I’ve been here 3 times and the service is always great!
Horrible service experience. Wrong dishes were brought, some dishes weren’t brought at all. Had to beg for water. Waitress was blas. They completely ignored our party of 7 for most of the night. The food that did come was not great. Huge letdown after running Big Sur Marathon. This was the only bad part of our trip though, thankfully.
