We ordered sardines and Cajun style fish. The sardines were cooked and served whole, bones and all and it was kind of difficult to eat. The Cajun style fish had no flavour and had beans that doesn’t go with fish. The food was mediocre at its best. Plus it was super expensive. If I pay 55$ for an appetizer and an entree I expect the food to be perfect. Only good thing was the view. Plus again a place which yelp claims to be $$ but it’s actually $$$ and serves food this which is not even good enough to be $ foodiemuggles.com
We came all the way across the country to enjoy this wonderful evening at The Fish Hopper. My dad and I had heard that we must try the abalone and we were amazed! Everything was delicious. Our server, Donnie was so kind and attentive. Please request him before he retires in 2 years…he makes you feel like you are his only customers. So VERY worth it!
Clam chowder is a must….best I’ve ever had…in a bowl or served in a fresh bread bowl (sour dough)…great Outdoor dinning as well. Loved Monterey but this place made my experience.
Pricy food but good service and great food. We are here during lunch and were seated by the window overlooking the bay. Had the salmon dip for appetizer and Cajun sea bass for lunch, both were
5.0 for their clam chowder. My favorite place for chowder in Monterey. They have a to-go section out front that makes it really easy to grab and go.
Came here shortly after having my first wine tasting with my girlfriend in Los Olivos. Ordered a bottle of wine with macadamia halibut. One of the best meals I’ve had; both in tenor and substance.
The halibut was fantastic. Be sure to nab a seat overlooking the ocean inside, however, avoid the constant calls of the seagulls on the deck. Ask the wine expert for advice. Don’t forget to look up at the blown glass jellyfish lights! Garret McCormick
