Knew we were in bad shape when the chips and salsa were bland tasting. Had to ask for menus after a long wait. Couldn’t get a simple tonic order correct. And last but not least, they forgot to place our order. Ended up walking out with empty stomachs. Went to another superior and cheaper mexican restaurant where they offered to bring us freshly made chips.
This place felt very family oriented. All the employees were probably from the Lopez family. It wasn’t particularly fancy, but it was stereotypical Mexican looking. The service wasn’t very fast, but not painfully slow either. My biggest complaint is my DosXX tasted watered down. I’ve had a lot of XX and the color, the head, and the taste was watery. The chips were so so, as was the salsa. However, I thought my fish tacos were fabulous. The even remembered my request for no cheese, hard for a Mexican place. Everyone else seemed pretty happy with their food too. So… it wasn’t great overall. But it was good and I’d go back for the tacos, without a doubt. I just won’t have a beer.
Jury is still out on this one. I was not enchanted by the mole sauce on the Manchamantel, and the retried beans resembled mashed potatoes in color, consistency and taste. But my hubby’s veggie fajita was really good. The service is toP-notch and the Mariachi harp player was impressive (plus I like restaurant musicians that can’t sneak up on you while you are eating – harps and pianos beat violins and accordions any day in my book…) Chorros are very good though!
This restaurant is a must go! Starting from the delicious guacamole appetizer to the chips (just out of the oven) and salsa to the yummy tacos. We has shrimp which my husband said was to die for and I had carnitas. Added lime and it was a great meal. Very friendly service. Try it you will like it. Family friendly. Opens at 11am to 9pm.
Good for the money. This is a great family owned restaurant in Monterey. Everyone is so friendly and the service is GREAT! They are very accomidating. Great place for a date, family friendly and they have a bar as well.04 Dec, 2010The Veggie Burrito (with chicken added). I love getting the Veggie Burrito and adding chicken to it. It’s HUGE and really good.
Lopez Cantina for Mike’s birthday – awesome
My friends and family really love Lopez Resaurante. We really like the bean they choose for their refrieds which also aren’t heavy in oil. Their shrimp dishes are fantastic. The marinade gives them a really marvelous flavor. The flan I would match with anyones. Their margaritas come with three mixes one of which is handmade. Yummmy! Love to come here.
