A must place to eat if you are visiting Fishermans Wharf in Monterey. I know, most locals avoid the typical tourist destinations. That being the case this is hands down one of the finest restaurants in the area. Service is impeccable. The best. Friendly and attentive without being intrusive or obsequious. Honest wine list. Reasonable corkage fee ($15). Great bar. Fantastic views of the bay literally 15 from your window. (Call ahead and request a bay side window table). The food was all superb. Best clam chowder ever. Generous portions expertly prepared. Started with a great Negroni cocktail, opened a bottle of Rombauer Chard from home and shared complimentary appetizer. It was our 42 anniversary and I indicated that when I called to reserve a nice bayside table. The hostess remembered and compd the appetizer as well as cheesecake for desert. Both were great. I had the calamari/egg plant parmigiana. I have had it before and it is delicious. My wife had the macadamia crusted halibut with prawns. Perfect. The waiter was friendly and professional. All in all it was a great dining experience.

Celebrated my cousin’s surprise birthday lunch here. The servers were nice enough to help me out surprise her. The food was good. The ambiance and view are great! The service was really good too.The restroom was clean even though tourists flock here since this is a famous tourist spot.

We entered this restraurant after we tried their clam chowder given out as samples. It is indeed People’s Choice. Creamy and generous amount of clams. We were also surprised with their Maine’s Lobster tail which is cooked with Lemon Caper Beurre Blanc, the meat of the Lobster is so sweet and fresh. We were kind of regretted for not ordering more. We also tried their Abalone which is lightly breaded and sauteed in butter. We were a bit disappointed as the abalone is being pounded and then breaded. We expected the whole abalone to be cooked as such that we could taste the freshness and the real texture of abalone.

The service was excellent. The seafood was pretty good. We all tried the Captain’s Plate, with lobster, prawns, scallops and salmon. All the seafood was well cooked(although they forgot the salmon on my son’s order, but that was quickly resolved). The couscous was mediocre however, as were the veggies which had a strange sauce on them. Overall a nice meal.

place is wonderful, awesome location, friendly staff, and the food is totally worth it, especially if you’re on a long road trip and you want something that pleases the tummy

Impressive restaurant. Excellent service and amazing food. I had the grilled artichoke as an appetizer. It had a sweet balsamic sauce which absolutely loved. For the entree I had the ahi tuna. The portion was large and it was seared perfectly. The ahi was served over chow main noodles that had some sort of wasabi-oil on them. I thought the dish wonderful and I would highly recommend it. The restaurant is not cheap but prices are fair for the location.

Beautiful view, fabulous food, artistic presentation and attentive service. It doesn’t get much better than that. I’m going to make it a ‘must go to’ on every trip to Monterey!
