Great savory breakfast. Their Papas Abuelos is on point… Gets pretty busy in the morning, very local staff, very local clientele. Parking can be a bit of a hassle. But it’s downtown it’s to be expected. The food was great the coffee was decent the service was great. Definitely want to go back
Great breakfast in Monterey, California. It was a perfect day in Monterey. Due to a mishap with a jagged rock on Highway 1, our car was at the dealership getting a new right front tire. Old Monterey Cafe was recommended for breakfast. I had a sort of Mexican Benedict and loved every bite, just the right amount of kick!! the hashbrowns were a crispy perfect brown. My husband loves corned beef hash and now we will plan our trips along the coast to eat at Old Monterey! The best corned beef hash ever. Our waitress was excellent. The restaurant was very busy. Try it!!
Steady. Been eating here for years and still love it. The hot chocolate with whipped cream is wonderful on chilly mornings. The pancakes are fluffy with tons of variety. I know the California eggs and crab benedict are popular too. I like the cinnamon raisin swirl french toast. Be prepared to wait as lines out the door are not uncommon, but for good breakfast that is fairly priced, it is worth it. There is extra parking in the back if Alvarado Street does not have any parking.
Not bad. Recommend the omelettes. Don’t recommend the waffles because they are tough and dry.
It’s as good as it looks. Service is not good, maybe the guy was having a bad day. The food is better than Denny’s, and it arrived quickly.
We visit this spot everytime we travel to Monterey. It is a guaranteed delicious breakfast for our family. Kid friendly, excellent service, and quick on the food despite the crowd.
The food and service at this place are nothing to write home about. Our incredibly basic drink order was taken twice by two different waiters and took about twelve minutes to be filled. When our food arrived, it wasn’t what we ordered. When the right food came out, it wasn’t very good, and it had string in it. Don’t even bother with this place.
