832 San luis obispo. Since the new chef took over this restaurant sucks !! The poor staff have to wear a bow tie and plad shirts which are silly looking ! Right after I ate the salmon I got really sick , this dish was awful !!
For these prices, they should have better service. This place is great on so many levels, and so not great on so many others. We dropped in for drinks and appetizers, and they have a a really unique set of both. But—we had to chase the server multiple times to get the order in and then actually get served. Why have such a great menu and then make it so hard to actually get served? When the Mint Pimm’s Cups finally arrived after 20 minutes they were excellent. The patio seating is wonderful, with loads of ambience and fun fireplace seating. Prices are really high. All in all, if you are going to pay this much, the service should be up to the level of the food and drinks.
Being our first dining experience on holidays, we were not quite sure to expect but the website and reviews all sounded promising. It definitely is worthy of all the positive reviews and the food was impressive. The bone marrow and Monterey squid were outstanding as was the Gnocchi with slow braised lamb which was came with a rich tomato braise accompanied with pillowy bite sizes of Gnocchi. The grilled char was cooked perfectly with crispy skin and accompanied with broccoli and cauliflower florets. Service was attentive and friendly so overall a very enjoyable dining experience.
We had reservations for 5:30 and didn’t eat until 7:30. Food was good but not great, the service was AWFUL. They told us twice that it would be okay to split the bill, but then tried charging some people 40-50% tip (and still didn’t get the rest of the bills correct). They were rude about their own mistakes and we had to fight just to pay a normal tip. Will never return and will tell friends to avoid this restaurant.
Friendly, attentive service. Food was excellent, nice wine list.
Bytes. Great physical location and decorations, they did a great job ! Staff not friendly, food wasnt at all worth what we paid for it, out rageously priced drinks, rather snotty wait staff ( unless you were with that table of (in crowd) across from us. Pretty much had to go get the server, and request assistance.,as if it were ‘ the, your not my table’ type attitude, although we were! Drinks are creative, pricey and most are very week, and you are definitely paying top shelf pricing for well stuff, .you can sit out side near the fir pits, but the service was even worse out there. the ambiience/decor keeps me wanting to give the place more chances. its as san francisco as monterey will ever get, but still i have been disappointed 3 times, with a variety of companions, all experiences were approximately the same 🙁
Reservations? what’s the definition?. My daughter and mother had 8pm reservations. Their table wasn’t quite ready at 8pm. But they patiently waited for their table to be ‘ready.’ It was ‘ready’ a little after 9pm. What restaurant who wants to stay in business does something like that? And then the food wasn’t good to top off the very long wait. I’ve talked my mother into giving them a little time and trying it again. But it had better be dang good on their second try. All I can say is: Kirk, where are you?
