Salmon and mixed drinks were good, and the view is nice. There was a little wait when we went, but we were offered the option of being texted when our table was ready. No bread service.
Sandbar & Grill at Fisherman’s Wharf was a good choice to eat at. They were still serving Sunday Brunch in addition to their regular offerings. So I decided on the Hangtown Fry, an omelet with fried oysters! It was delicious. The staff was friendly and checked periodically to make sure everything was okay. Used dishes were cleared away quickly from my table.
What a great place! We came for Sunday brunch and found the restaurant easily accessible (by stairs) and in a great location for a harborside view. The staff was friendly and available, the service was quick, and the food was delicious. Next time I’m in the area, I hope to stop here again.
Ring bell before entering the restaurant it will put you in a good mood before entering. The seafood is where it’s shining. The water and boats are beside the barge and you can watch the otters.
We were looking for a wharf restaurant with a view and Sandbar, was a nice surprise. Usually wharf restaurants are more expensive than good; not Sandbar. More local, and a little run down, with a great view, the food was really good. Generous portions, and very fresh. Crab club and Louie loaded with crab, delicious artichoke and and homemade chowder. Happy we found it.
Laid back – Excellent Food. The bartender (John, I think) is a quiet guy (to refute an earlier review) which is not to be confused for anything else… I asked questions, I got answers, and he didn’t steer me wrong. Six oysters, chowder and the curry dish (scallops and shrimp). As close to a perfect meal as I have had. It was simply excellent. It was a Wednesday night, light crowd. Totally laid back, no pretension. No carnival barkers outside offering samples. It was a bit pricy, but I tipped 20% because the quiet bartender knew his restaurant, and that’s the way dining out should be.
Food is delicious and the view of the marina is great. You get a sample of chowder before your entree and it’s quite tasty. If you sit at the bar and it’s busy, beware of the bartender. He can be short and ignore you for a long time. I will go back but we’ll sit in the dining room.
