Our small group of 6 was well served by the staff and the menu was just right for lunch. Not very crowded, making our conversation tone normal – so many ‘white table cloth’ restaurants have an annoying noise level. Salad was great.
An interesting experience. While sojourning to Hollywood, we stumbled upon this charming, affable restaurant. The interior decor was nonconforming. Along the walls paintings of ladies in dresses were the only art on the wall. For our appetizer we had Bruschetta. It was fresh and refreshing! The fresh balsamic did the trick along with the freshly cut tomatoes. Next, we had the Penne Spumante and Margarita Pizza. The Penne was tough, and cooked way past al dente. The pasta hardly had any body, the tomato and sausage terrorizing the whole dish. The pizza was sub-par. There was a plethera of cheese and hardly any sauce or basil. The service was professional, caring, and congenial. We might not visit again but it was a good experience.
Delicious!. My husband and I took a chance on this place one night and we’ve gone back four times now. Each time we have been bowled over by how incredibly nice the staff is and every dish we have ordered has been delicious. The lasagna is light and just a touch different than the norm. The raviolis (I’ve now tried most of them) are cooked to a perfect al dente and each type of filling is amazingly flavorful. I also highly recommend the pureed soups. I find the atmosphere to be very pleasant–open and quiet. It’s not exactly typical, but I prefer an environment where I can talk to the people I’m with. I must say that they have pretty lousy taste in background music (Kenny G, and so forth) but it’s quiet enough that you can ignore it. Give it a try! You won’t be disappointed!
North Hollywood’s best Italian restaurant. My wife and I went to Spumante on a whim, and we’ve been back numerous times. The most incredibly helpful and friendly waitstaff, reasonable prices and an amazing take on the traditional lasagna make this one of our all time faves! Try the cheese ravioli, (phenomenal) and the various soups of the day, usually prepared without a lot of heavy dairy products, just chicken stock. But you’ll keep coming back for the lasagna.
