We ate at Cardamom while staying in North Park. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. We really enjoyed the Pancakes and Quiche. We will certainly return for breakfast next time we vacation in San Diego.
I live in the neighborhood, and people seem to like the place. However, I’ve tried it several times and have never gotten a very good meal. The service is friendly but slow. The food preparation is lax. It always arrived both cold and the eggs over cooked. I don’t eat bread. This could be the food they make best. They have a small sidewalk dining area where dogs are welcome.
It’s like a dog park for badly behaved kids! Apparently hipster parents haven’t heard of the term inside voice. The food is not worth the slow service and insane atmosphere! My burrito was over seasoned while the spicy dragon burrito was bland. This is off our list.
The food is unique, delicious, and wonderful. The portions are extremely generous compared to most places these days. The service was excellent and the atmosphere is welcoming. I went for breakfast today and I’ll definitely be going back tomorrow!
Loud, slow service….better choices abound. I have been here twice and been disappointed both times. The menu is fairly limited and yet my service has been slow on both occasions. I waited 15 minutes to get the coffee I ordered. The portions tend to the small side for the price. I ordered the bliss cakes with fresh seasonal fruit. The fruit consisted of a single strawberry sliced up and placed next to the cakes. WooHoo! To top off the meal I was treated to a customer’s dog urinating on the patio while I ate. I felt like doing the same thing. You are much better off at the Big Kitchen or venturing into Hillcrest to the Crest Cafe. The food is better, the atmosphere is better and the service is better.
This place is awesome! The coffee is super good and gives me a great amount of energy. The owner is very friendly. They make there own bread and pastries there and let me tell you the English muffin is sooo good! I love the soyrizo burritto ( I’m vegetarian) I get it with pepper jack and the pepper jack cream cheese and it’s awesome!! I have taken my meat eating friends here and they too also love it. It’s awesome for breakfast and a bonus is when you ask for a cup of water it’s filtered no tap water !!!!!
Expand, please!. I like Cardamom, and noticed that their menu selection increased a little the last time I was there, but still not enough for me. We were SO excited to have a bakery down the street, but last time we tried to buy bread, they had exactly 2 choices- that’s all they offer! And the breakfast is good, but I’d just like a few more options. If they could even add 2-3 more selections in each category, I’d be pleased. I had hoped it would be closer to Bread & Cie, or even the Mission, but for what it is, it’s tasty. The service is hit or miss, but the owner is always there and always very friendly!
