I went to this place over a year ago with an ex boyfriend and I hated it. We walk in and the place is filled with old/crazy people. The waitress we got was incredibly rude and had a terrible attitude when I asked her a question about something on the menu. Nothing on the menu looked or sounded appetizing, and I ended up ordering an egg sandwich. The waitress kinda threw our plates onto the table and got gravy on the table and my shirt. The food itself was not good. I’m glad I didn’t pay for this because everything about this place was terrible, I don’t know how it’s got such a good reputation as a San Diego landmark.
Nothing fancy but it is satisfying. Used to go here with the bro. It was fun and we went away satisfied with the food and service.
Inexpensive and filling. Can’t beat this place when you are low on cash but looking for a complete meal.
This is not the place the snotty gastropub trend-setter foodies. It is good food that is not expensive. I love the place and have eaten their for years.
Miss yvonne. I am 67yrs young and have been eating at the Chicken Pie Shop of San Diego since I was a little child. My parents introduced us to the restruant. I took my 3 children to the Chicken Pie Shop as well and I continue to go there. My entire family enjoys eating there and some of my friends do as well. The food is very good and reminds me of home cooked. They make their own pies and chicken pies from their own receipes. When my parents first took me there it was just a little place and then they moved to a larger place and then to an even larger place and now are at the El Cajon Blvd. address. It is a down home country look and the food is, in my opinion, delicious! I hope they will always be in San Diego and always stay in business.
You have got to be kidding me.. Terrible food srved in a hospital-cafeteria type atmosphere.
Terrible food, I’m even surprised that old people eat here.
