Their beer is really good but it’s their food that sets them apart in this neighborhood. It’s not cheap but it’s yummy and creative. Great spot for sandwiches especially.

If you have ever been to Blind Lady Ale House in Normal Heights, this this place would be a refreshing twist to the same formula. The first time I came here was for their soft opening. The place had no sign outside, just a bunch of fixies and a long line. Good or bad sign? It was hipster central. The line quickly moved along as we got to the door and we were able to order food/beer pretty quickly. The tables are set up like long picnic tables so feel free to sit at any open spot. There is a bar like area right next to the bar in case the bar ran out of space. Nice ambiance for big groups and maybe even more intimate nights if it was a little more empty. I got the Oyster Po’ Boy (which was my first po’ boy ever), Baked Oysters w/ Bacon, and several beers to accompany the food through out the night. The po’ boy was pretty good because I don’t like my oysters raw. The oysters were deep fried but not too oily. Crunchy and just right, along with garnishes and sauces that didn’t feel out of place in between the baguette like bread. It also came with a side of chips, but was very minimal. They could have doubled the chips. The Baked Oysters w/ Bacon was also a nice variation on the usual hot sauce and lime combo. Bacon seriously makes everything better, except your arteries. I suggest it as an appetizer or order for one if you’re the oyster connoisseur. I recently came back and this time had a couple of beers with their Steak Sandwich. @#^%, that steak sandwich was bomb. Perfect medium rare with onion rings, greens and sauces in between sourdough bread I think? Whatever else was in there that I missed just added to pure flavor harmony. This was one of the sandwiches that came with a salad instead of chips. The selection of what’s on tap changes daily here. Not the whole menu though, just certain ones appear to come on and off the list. Some beers on tap are available to be ordered in a pitcher, but not all. The staff are pretty knowledgeable on what beer goes well with your order so feel free and ask for a suggestion!
Average counter service, good selection of beer, and good food. Nowhere near as personable as the sister staff at Blind Lady Ale House, but you can’t have everything.
Cuban pork sandwich was really good. Don’t skip the fries. They are awesome. There is a really great jalapeo dipping sauce for them.
