Spicy and cheap. You either like this place or you don’t. Co-workers have given me mixed reviews. Some absolutely love it, and other swear never to come back again. I guess I’m sort of in the middle. I won’t especially seek out this place, but if it’s suggested as a lunch time place to go I don’t mind the visit.I’ve been here a few times and have enjoyed the food I’ve eaten. I wouldn’t say it’s the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, but it’s edible, hot, and you get more than enough for one meal. In fact, this is a good place to go if you want a cheap lunch special or to share a few dishes with friends or co-workers.The last time I went, I was in a group of six. We each ordered something from the lunch special menu, which begins at $5.30 and goes up to $6 (and change). The lunch special comes with soup (eggflower or hot and sour), salad, main entree, and rice. This is a lot of food for the price you pay. Even the kung pao bowls you order start as low as $3.99 and go up to $5.99. They come with rice and your choice of meat.I decided to go with the chicken and broccoli. Everyone else went with the eggflower soup, but I decided to be the odd man out and order the hot and sour soup. I’d never had it before and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try it. I really liked the soup. It was just the right amount of spicy for me. I just thought it would have bits of tofu in it, but in addition to the tofu there was also some eggflower in it. I really liked the soup and will consider ordering it again. The chicken and broccoli was just that and tasted like it should. Although, the chicken didn’t have much flavor other than the clear/creamy sauce, it was sort of bland. I had a taste of the orange chicken, lemon chicken, and kung pao chicken. The orange chicken was a bit on the crispy side with not enough meat. The lemon chicken was very lemony and had less breaded crust (which was nice). The kung pao chicken was sufficiently spicy with peanuts and some veggies that I’m not too sure what they were.
