We were staying at the nearby Marriott for my husband’s high school reunion and I did some research ahead of time to find some walkable places that seemed to have a cool vibe. I did a good job choosing The District! I could tell right away when I walked in that I would like the place, from the casual sofa seating to the eye-catching central bar and the diverse crowd. I went with my husband and his dad and we enjoyed the charcuterie platter along with some oysters first, followed by a pizza. We sampled various drinks along the way including a wine flight for myself. The tab was a little pricey, but for what we had it was to be expected. We loved all of it, especially navigating through some of the unique selections on the charcuterie platter! The only thing I noticed was as the night wore on, the quality of the patrons seemed to change a bit and it turned into a more casually dressed clubby vibe. There were a lot of guys who looked to be on the prowl. Earlier on it was more loungy, classier feeling which I definitely preferred. We had a great time though! stylishlysocial.com
Enjoyed every moment!!!!!. Was in Oakland with my boyfriend and stumbled upon District- it was new and looked beautiful from the outside, and the menu looked amazing. We decided to try it and were VERY pleased with the experience. The server (Brooke) was extremely knowledgeable about the liquor and wine menus and was very helpful with food choices. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted great- we had the baby lettuce and shaved beet salad (it was a generous size), tuna tartare, applewood smoked trout, spinach and fontina arancini and the seared sea scallops. Some of the portions were small but the taste made it all worthwhile. However, the highlight of the meal was the Dr. Heyden Reisling. If you are a fan of Reisling you won’t want to miss having a glass (or two).We also really enjoyed the music they were playing and the surroundings were beautiful. Old world charm mixed with great art and modern touches make this place a must-visit. If I’m ever back in the Bay area I’ll definitely go again.
