Great Ambiance. El Gusano is a very attractive, higher-end Mexican restaurant in downtown Oakland. The guacamole (my baseline test for any Mexican restaurant) was fresh and well seasoned. The grilled prawns were perfectly cooked, though lacked a bit in interest – next time I’ll seek out a salsa before I sit down. During lunch, it is mostly self-serve (order at the counter and food is delivered).
