Hava Nagilah! (and a challah). This Jewish-influenced bakery is run by a friend of mine, so I’m biased, but I’d like Bob Jaffe’s baked goods even if I didn’t know him. My favourite are his coconut macaroons, which are dense without being leaden. The chocolate-topped ones are killer! His black-and-white cookies are tasty too, without being sugar-bombs. Don’t forget the challah bread! Plus, Jaffe’s a cool guy who supports local charities with his bakery, hires disadvantaged people so they can have productive work, and he’s a local independent businessman, not some faceless corporate baking chain. He deserves every bit of business you can give him.
