There were a few people in front of us but the line went very quickly. The employees were speedy with making the drinks. The drinks on the other hand, worse mocha I have ever had. I also got a apple tea cake that they completely forgot to warm up for me until my husband had to go ask for it and then they did not warm it up. My husband enjoyed his black coffee and his empenda was good and very flakey.
My friend and I went on a weekend for brunch and of course it was super busy. The line was long and it was crowded inside. There were even a lot of dogs hanging out with their owners. Apparently they have really good coffee because a lot of people seemed to walk in and out with one. I didn’t come for their coffee; rather I went there for their vegan brunch. While waiting for my friend I debated on choosing a treat from their selection of desserts. Everything from cookies, to brownies, to cakes, to truffle candies and pies. All VEGAN. My friend and I learned that it was self served, meaning you wait for your food and you wait for an available seating. It didn’t take long to get a seat, but it sure was a tight space. Forget about personal space, your back is literally right behind someone else’s. Anyway, their brunch menu changes often so it’s not the same. There’s only one kind of plate they serve per day and we had sausage with scrambles and a scone with their sauce and a slice of watermelon. It wasn’t bad, the sausage with the scramble needed some seasonings to it, otherwise it was ok. We shared an empanada that was tasty. It was flaky and the flavor was right. The best part was the peanut butter cake for dessert. This was a late birthday celebration for me and my friend too me there for my birthday. The cake was so good. It was sweet, but not too sweet. I liked it. Overall, I liked the cafe. I liked how it was dog friendly, the service was good and the food and atmosphere. It’s crowd is a mixture of hipsters, rocker, and even couples with strollers. I would’ve given it a higher rating if the brunch had been better. I’ve been following their posts of facebook from other people and was honestly slightly disappointed at their menu for brunch that day. I’ll have to come back another time and checkout their brunch again perhaps on a Saturday or maybe also call ahead before going. So far they’re the only vegan brunch spot I know in the Bay Area and sacramento. Other than a vegan food truck that serves breakfast food, there really isn’t anywhere out here to go to an all vegan cafe for brunch.
This is a great cafe! They roast their own coffee beans on site and the coffee is amazing. I really liked that their creamer is soy based, rather than just having soy milk. They don’t have wifi so I wouldn’t suggest it for studying, but it is a great place to grab a cup of coffee or a snack.
