OMFG! Random recommendation…. OMFG!Random recommendation: I was buying a car in San Frickin Jose and as the finance woman & I were doing my paperwork we began chatting about delicious food in the Bay Area. Turns out her aunt owns VC. Went today. Deeeeelish! Run don’t walk.

Phone cards, fried pig ears, and fresh homemade sausage – oh my!. How excited was I, having lived on the Thai-Lao-Burma border, to stumble across this inexpensive, authentic gem purely by accident when exploring the back streets not far from our house? What are the odds? (I had no idea I’m supposed to be scared of the neighborhood until I read these reviews!) I’m here for lunch whenever I get a nostalgic craving – which apparently is every week – for rich, spicy sai oua, real portions of warm sticky rice, and crispy cha giao with tons of fresh mint and basil. The only time I managed to order something else was a total disaster (as in, tasted like dog food), but that was my bad. I’m looking for the Burmese/Chiangmai style Khao Soi (still!), not Lao.
