  Best Ever BBQ BEEF!. We stayed at the Ocean Beach hotel last week, and were on the lookout for BBQ. We found this place right on Newport, and it serves the BEST EVER BBQ BEEF Sandwiches! The Beef was done to perfection and piled high on a freshly baked bun, and The sauce was magnificent! It comes in mild, medium or spicy. We used mild and found it to be absolutely perfect. The people behind the counter were so friendly, and there was hardly any wait. We love O.B and will return often to The Barbecue House and try some of their many other offerings

  Ordered Family Meal Deal, female cashier wasn’t very enthusiastic which put me off a little but I was there for the ribs. Didn’t take long and my order came through, served on a big silver platter there was enough meat to feed a small village! The rib meat came off the bone easily and tasted very good, the chicken was a little dry but I was so impressed by the portion size that It didn’t bother me, the slaw was terrible and the mac n cheese was ordinary, onion rings, garlic bread and fries were good. We couldn’t finish it all and ended up taking the leftovers home. The Family Meal Deal was great value for money, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. 8.5/10.

  The best BBQ I’ve ever had… I know Phil’s is supposed to be awesome, but this place has sooo many other options on top of your standard chicken and ribs, PLUS there is never a line that circles the block They even have a small vegetarian menu which is typically hard to find in a BBQ joint. Also, if you’re a local/family owned business supporter, BBQ House is just that. Enjoy!

  Move this bbq!. This place is in ocean beach. while not exactly my kind of beach (it’s more like venice for you L.A. folks) which is kinda dirty and lots of bums. the food portions and prices were ok. definitely a whole in the wall. order at the counter and grab a booth. meat is tender and I like that you can customize your own sauce (mild, medium or spicy). i’m just not a big fan of spare ribs which is what they have here and are more fatty than i like. side dishes were typical….stay clear of the onion rings very greasy (felt like the whole fying pan came with it). they have a bbq burrito which we didn’t try. if it were at a better location I would give it a 2nd try but ocean beach needs some serious revamping.
