Sfogliatelle (Lobster Tails) : A crispy pastry shell filled with a CREAMY ricotta filling. That’s what it’s supposed to be & what I am used to spending many years in the northeast. These are a much smaller version (we’ll call them lobster tail fins) with a sponge-like filling in the middle. It’s like they baked them with the filling already inside! I couldn’t tell where the pastry stopped & the filling started. The pastry was good but that is only a part of this pastry. I am no expert on Italian pastries and could be wrong but buying them for 10 years in all the north end pastry shops in Boston I think I have an idea how they should look & taste. Maybe Campini’s should send their baker out to the east coast to sample all of their pastries. My search for an authentic lobster tail continues . . .14 Nov, 2014Italian pastry – I think not. I guess I hit them on an off day. My sandwich was ok, nothing life changing. The lady behind the register is not very friendly. She got snotty when I requested no mayo or mustard. Sarcastically told me to read the sign which stated they don’t put it on unless you ask. Well, EXCUSE me!!
Excellent food. Family owned. Excellent service.
The food was excellent, but the woman at the counter was very offputting. She did not have any manners and was not in the least bit happy. I got the prosciutto with fresh mozzarella panini, and at almost $10 I was expecting it to be a lot larger or that it would come with something other than the pickled banana pepper that every other sandwich gets. Needless to say, I was wrong, and while the panini was altogether tasty I still felt somewhat hungry upon its complete consumption. So I bought a cannoli, which was delicious. Would I go there again? Probably. Hopefully I won’t have that one woman serving me again though. She was yelling at one of the employees over the phone and did not bid us farewell when we left nor thanked us. She was rather uncouth if you ask me. However: if I am to experience similar service again I will not be returning.
