The food had excellent flavor! The service was great and friendly, I’ll definitely be back! There were a lot of menu items (mostly the Peruvian ones) that I’m excited to try on the next go around.Ok so I just came back for the second time and don’t know much about Peruvian food so I just picked something – the Tallarian Saltado Beef. And it is AMAZINg!

In Peru they treat their Ceviche with the outmost respect. Besides the well known fact that Peruvian Cuisine ranks high in the culinary world, over there they are very careful what they serve their patrons, because word of mouth can and very well destroy a place reputation. I guess what I am trying to convey is that were good food is concerned, people accepts nothing but the best!In the USA good Peruvian restaurants are hard to come by. Rare to find an above average Peruvian eatery. I should know, for I have spent countless of dollars, only to be disappointed, and taken for a ride monetarily, one fiasco after another in the most famous dishes that are so well made in Peru.Enter La Choza Peruvian and Mexican Restaurant, of all places in Temecula, CA. What a nice and tasty surprise that place turned out to be when we walked in on a Friday in August around 2:30PM.First of all it should be noted that Nena and Jorge are very nice people, efficient and respectful while dealing with us. Turned out that Jorge was the one with the magic hand when it came to preparing a very decent Ceviche, the only question he asked was: how hot or spicy? Sister requested mild, moi as hot as he could muster. Following selections were ordered in no particular order:2 Ceviche Mixtos, $12.99 each?: Ceviches arrived well presented, Mixto means with a variety of seafood including fish. Ceviche is cooked in fresh citrus juices, perfectly marinated and dressed (salt, pepper, etc), and it comes with sweet potato, corn, etc. I, personally, can not live without a good Ceviche, and this one fit the bill. Even my sister drank the juice at the bottom of the plate, called in Peru Leche de Tigre (tiger’s milk), Jorge definitely delivered a very tasty one. 4.5 Stars.Limo Saltado, $11.99?: another classic Peruvian dish, which consists of meat, red onions, cilantro, fresh tomatoes, French fries, and delicious white rice Peruvian style. Cooked in high fire, when prepared correctly and with good ingredients, this dish can easily become addictive to most. 4.5 Stars.Papa a la Huancaina, $6.99?: sorry I keep putting the?, but I do not recall exactly. This dish is a traditional one in Peru, and consists of yellow chillies (very popular in Peru), Queso Fresco (fresh cheese like feta or Mexican Cacique, similar but not quite) evaporated and/or fresh milk, blended some places to silky consistency, or as in this place a little thicker, served in a bed of boiled potatoes, garnished with boil egg, kalamata type olive, and any variety of fresh lettuce. 4.5 Stars.Chicharron de Pescado, $10.99: fish as Red Snapper, a little firm in texture, lightly breaded with herbs and spices, cut in mostly uniform squares, deep fry to crispy perfection, accompanied by cut pieces of lime (here in the U.S., for in Peru the lemons have the acidity of the limes here, and the big lemons here are way too mild), and fresh traditional onion salsa plus tartar sauce. I am so hungry right at this moment, just thinking about it. Dish arrived ready to devour, a lot of the sea morsels ready to be had. 4.5 Stars. The fact that all this good eating took place in Temecula, well that almost brought tears to my eyes, knowing that no longer I would have to drive long and far for this kind of delicious, and why not, essential Peruvian food we definitely love. Total bill with 10% discount in Yelp, $60 plus gratuity. 4.5 Stars.
